Inn From The Cold Catering Program

With the assistance from a Grant from The Ontario Trillium Foundation, The Inn will be introducing a new Catering Program. The program will provide an alternative business employment opportunity for both homeless guests and other disadvantaged. The program will be officially announced at The Inn on Monday, April 16, at 4:00 pm.

The Inn Extends The Season To April 30

In 2011 April was a cold and wintery month. Through community support and private funding The Inn will be able to stay open for an extra month for the 2012 season. The April opening will provide the homeless with more safe warm accommodation supported by a group of more than 270 volunteers. Inn staff will have more chance to develop reintegration programs for our homeless guests.

IFTC Employment Programs Kicked Off on March 20

The Inn began the first sessions of the New Employment Program on March 20, 2012. Stage One of the Program includes Life Skills Training and Computer Literacy. Contact the Inn to set up an assessment for future programs.

Hockey Helps the Homeless Tournament a Success

“Hockey Helps the Homeless” Tournament raises funds for the homeless in Toronto and the GTA. This year the 2011 event was held at the Magna Centre on Friday, November 18, with a portion of the funds raised being donated to Inn From the Cold. In addition to all the local amateur players there were ex-NHL players playing on the teams . New this year was a tournament division for women, with CWHL players on the teams!

4TMiler Event Raised Funds for the Inn

In support of Inn from the Cold, the Tom Taylor Trail Ten Miler, was run on Sunday October 30. The 10 mile(16 km) run and the 5 km walk/run was a huge success…over 350 participants raised over $15,000 for the Inn. Thank you to the Race Committee and all of the volunteers and participants for contributing to the success.

New Volunteer Training

Come and visit the Emergency Shelter before you decide to volunteer. Chat with the trained volunteers about their experience and tour the facility. Current volunteers who bring a friend receive a free box of cookies.

Aurora Farmer’s Market

Inn From the Cold will have a booth at the Aurora Farmer’s Market starting on August 6 through October. Visit us there to volunteer at the Inn and learn about our programs for the homeless.

Current volunteers are needed to man the booth in August, September, up to October 8. Please call the office to help out.
