Community Meal
COMMUNITY MEAL 2012
The Community Meal Program was originally conceived in 2009 and since that time has grown to provide meals for people in need in our community, 52 weeks of the year. We typically serve between 60 and 90 guests each Friday, between 4:30pm and 6:30pm, in the Dining Room at Inn from the Cold. As well as providing the meals each week we strive to make coming to the Inn for Community Meal a social event for our guests. On a number of occasions our groups have included musicians who have entertained guests during the meal. In addition take-home meals are given for those who may be unable to come out for the meal.
Meals are provided by: various service clubs, corporate groups and faith groups in Newmarket/Aurora area. Each week the Providing Group plans the menu, purchases the food, prepares it in the kitchen at the Inn and serves it to our guests. The execution of the meal is supported by a team of Volunteers from Inn from the Cold who set up the dining room, provide the beverages and completed the clean-up of the kitchen and dining area.
We invite any group who would be interested in supporting this initiative to consider the following:
*Any corporation, business, service, or faith group is invited to participate and get on our 2013 schedule to provide a meal on a Friday…most groups spend approximately $300.00 per meal.
*A donation of money to this project, as we do have groups willing to prepare the meal but who are unable to absorb the cost of it. Tax receipts are available.
We are currently creating our schedule for 2013…for more information or to participate please call Marilyn Sorochan at 905-898-1274
