BINGO - Fundraiser

An Out Of Shelter Volunteer Opportunity

We have been selected to participate in the Aladdin Newmarket Charities Association -Bingo as a Fundraising Opportunity for the IFTC. We require volunteers to participate in this out of shelter activity. This will be a year round activity and will contribute significantly to our fundraising and the running of the shelter.

Each team will be provided a training session. A current Police check must be on file.

We will need 4 teams of 4 volunteers. One volunteer will be assigned the role of Captain of the Team. Each team will work on a 5 hour shift, just once every two months. We also hope to have a small group of extra volunteers who can fill in if a team member is not available. The shift begins with the careful counting and sorting the bingo cards that will be sold, preparing both floats and the trays for runners (employed by the bingo hall) and then selling all the cards that are sold from behind the counter. This first section of the shift will take approximately 1 ½ hours. The next three hours will be spent tracking the games played and handing out winning prizes. The last ½ hour will be spent tallying the unsold bingo cards and cash. It is a very active and high energy activity that requires volunteers who can handle large sums of money with accuracy.
We have 2 time slots each month: I have included our times until March. We have scheduled times until Sun. Dec. 19. 2010. Please note the actual shift begins 1 ½ hours prior to this time and ends ½ hour after this time. We will have the full schedule for the year after we meet for training.

Sun. Jan. 3        9:30 P.M. - 12:30 A.M.
Mon. Jan.18      11:45 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Mon. Feb. 1       3:00 P.M. - 6:00P.M.
Mon. Feb.15      6:00 P.M. - 9:30 P.M.
Mon. Mar.1        9:30 P.M. - 12:30 A.M.
Sun. Mar.7        9:30 P.M. - 12:30 A.M.

If you are interested please sign up directly through Volunteer Impact-Out Of Shelter Activities-Bingo Fundraising or give Alex a call at the Inn office and she will put you into the system.

Please remember all volunteers for this activity need a current police check on file.
Thank you for your support.

Community Meal

COMMUNITY MEAL

The Board of Inn From The Cold is pleased to announce

and invite you to participate in our Friday Night Community Meal Program at

510 Penrose St. from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.

In April  and then again in June 2009, faith and service groups met at the Inn on Penrose St. to determine how we all could best help the less fortunate in our community. A community meal open to anyone in need in the Newmarket was our initial goal.

The model we developed allowed any group of 10 or more citizens the opportunity to come to the Inn and prepare a meal on designated Friday nights. Any business, service club, faith group, and/or individual interested in paying for the meal was invited to step forward with $300 - $400, receive some recognition, a tax receipt, and our thanks. Any individual in need is invited to join us regularly for a meal, some light entertainment and companionship.  Yes, we are open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day!

Initially, we had hoped to provide 19 Community Meals from December to the end of March. At this point we are grateful to announce, the meal program has been extended to June.

Currently in the works and close to our hearts is the ability to identify shut-ins and then to transport them to us or provide a meal to them.

If you and/or your group would like to get involved,

please contact us at 905-895-8889 or our website email address and ask for either Alex or Kirby.
